 OVERVIEW

This popular one-day class is fun, educational, and fast-moving. By the end of class the student will have created
a contemporary version of the time-honored fish spearing decoy originally used by the earliest inhabitants of
the North American continent. What was used hundreds of years ago as a means of capturing available food in
the winter now is sought after by avid collectors. The student will learn techniques and create a style that will
produce a piece no less interesting and intrigueing. Carve, detail, weight, balance, and paint your own "fake fish",
and if you have the stamina, fish with it the next time you travel to the deep-frozen North. Some carving
experience is recommended, but not required.
